History of Morgan le Fay

Who is Morgan le Fay? Is she evil? Is she kind? Well, no one knows for sure. They do know that Morgan is the daughter of Igraine and Gorlois, and she is King Arthur's half sister. She is married to King Uther. She is very skilled in magic of all sorts. Morgan tries to kill King Arthur so Accolon can become King. King Arthur is warned that a girl he trusts will steal his scabbard. Morgan le Fay says that she will take it and keep it safe. Arthur agrees. Morgan then gives it to her love, Accolon. In some stories, she is said to be the mother of Mordred, Yvain or Ywain.

How She Stole the Scabbard

First she went to Queen Guinevere and asked her to leave to go into the town. Morgan had some bad news for Arthur. Then she went to the Abbey of nuns where King Arthur was sound asleep. She took his scabbard and suddenly left. When King Arthur awoke he knew something was missing. He asked who had been in his room for he/she has taken his scabbard. The nuns replied, with his sister, Morgan le Fay. The King demanded them to find the best horse they can and to get Sir Ontzlake and his horse too. They shall go after her. They hadn’t gone to far when they found a small peasant and asked if he had seen a lady on horseback. He replied with “yes, a woman flew off in yonder toward the forest with about 40 horses behind her.” Arthur and Sir Ontzlake rode after her rapidly. Finally they had caught up enough where they could see her. Morgan was terrified. She didn’t know what to do so she decided if she couldn’t have the scabbard, then no one can. Morgan through the scabbard into the lake, and it sank hasty. King Arthur knew he wouldn’t get it back so he turned for home.

.Those Sweet Dreams

When Morgan was little she had these horrible dreams. They were of the future. They were like premonitions. Gaius, the court physician, gave her some type of sleeping pills.(drugs) The only problem was that they didn’t work, he tried many different types but he couldn’t find the drug that worked. She used these powers in defeating enemies to help Merlin.

Her Magic

Morgan’s magic soon revealed itself when she accidently set her room on fire. Morgan was terrified of her powers. She was afraid of her powers, so she went and told Gaius. He knew it was very true but to protect her, he lied. Merlin did not like his answer. Merlin knew she must find Druid for help. Eventually, Morgan found her way to a Druids camp, where once again she was united with her old friend Mordred. Uther was worried that she had been kidnapped, and sent Merlin looking. Morgan did not want to go back to Uther, but she was forced by Camelot soldiers who had secretly followed Merlin on his trip. The only good thing about her trip to the Druids was that she learned to not be afraid of her powers, although she did now know the danger in exposing them. Uther later hired a witch finder the last trace of magic in the world. Morgan was taken hostage by the witch finder when the treachery was exposed. But Merlin came to the rescue again.
